Ingredients

1/4 Cup Margarine or Butter 1/4 Cup Honey 1/4 Cup Sugar 2 large Eggs 3 Cups Flour 2 Teaspoon Baking Powder 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda 1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg 1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves 1/2 Cup Unsweetened Apple Juice 1 Tablespoon Kirschwasser or clear cherry juice (optional) star pattern cookie cutter

Instructions:

1. Cream the margarine, honey, sugar and eggs together in a bowl until smooth and fluffy. 2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. 3. Divide the dough into three equal parts and roll each one into a circle about 1/2 inch thick. 4. Wrap each in plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight. 7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 5. Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll out on a lightly-floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. 6. Cut cookies out with the star cookie cutter and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. 7.Bake in the 375-degree oven preheated for 8 to 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.

These spicy cookies are a holiday tradition. They store well in airtight containers. Great for holiday treats served on platters or in small bags as stocking stuffers. If the dough gets too warm while you're working with it, it makes cutting the cookies more difficult. It is best to take out one section of dough at a time as you need it.
