French Toast

Number of Servings: 3
Prep Time: 30 mins Skill Level: Easy

Ingredients:

6 slices dry bread
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
pinch ground cinnamon (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional}

Instructions:

1. In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, cinnamon and vanilla until light & frothy.

2. Soak the bread slices in the egg mixture until well-coated on each side.

3. Heat a lightly greased frying pan or griddle over medium heat.

4. Carefully place bread slices into pan and cook on both sides until golden brown. Serve immediately with plenty of butter and maple syrup!

Helpful Hints:

Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar and serve with fresh strawberries to "dress it up" for special occasions like Easter or Mother's Day brunch! Otherwise, in our house any kind of leftover bread usually does the trick for French toast, including day-old Italian bread, whole wheat or rye bread.
