Cod with cream - Bacalhau de natas

 

Number of Servings: 4
Prep Time: 30 min. Skill Level: Easy

Ingredients:

Cod
potatoes
1 pckg heavy cream
2 cups milk
margerine or butter
2 tbsp flour

Instructions:

1. Cook a portion of cod, soaked previously

2. Fry potatoes cut into squares, don't let them fry too much.

3. Add the margerina or butter, flour and cook stiring constantly.

4. Add the milk, 1 package of heavy cream, mustard, lemon juice or vinager, sal, pepper to taste.

5. In an oven proof dish place the slightly fried onion, better if you fry in olive oil, the cod, the fried potatoes and all the other ingredients, topping with shredded cheese.

6. Place in the oven until golden brown.

Helpful Hints:

Many of the recipes were taken from Ana's Great-grandmother Virgínia D'Albuquerque Athayde's recipes book, last writen on Tuesday, February 13, 1892.
