Cruises
The
old days of elegant, formal attire cruises... are still very much
alive and well, but to please a wider range of passengers they've
been supplemented. You'll find more relaxed settings and themes.
Family cruises cater to the under twelve crowd, singles cruises
- the Love Boat with a beat, cruises catering to women only or
to the gay community... these are only some of the offerings.
On the Net, you can definitely find a cruise to suit your dreams...
Expedia
- This online travel booking service has made a place for itself
by providing good information and better prices. They answer frequently
asked questions, have cruise line reviews, reviews of individual
ships, calendars that let you pick ports of call and dates that
are convenient for you and even offer travel protection plans...
and you can book everything right at the site.. If you can make
last minute plans, check out the "hot deals" at extremely
reduced prices...
4-Cruises
- Here you'll find lists of cruise specials from all
the top cruise lines - many at half price or less - deep discounts!
River cruises, Europe, Alaska, Caribbean, you name it. They carry
a Better Business Seal and their privacy policy is clearly listed
- two items you should always check! One nice feature of this
site is the cruise slide show - to get you in the mood. They also
link to an extensive honeymoon section. The drawback is that you
cannot book online, but they do have a form for you to request
a quote.
Travelocity
- Another one of the top online travel sites. Make sure to check
the top
deals to see if they have any specials for the cruise you
are looking for. If this is your first shipboard experience explore
their Guide
for First Time Cruisers to find out "what to know...
before you go."
Priceline.com
- This site gained fame as the "Name Your Own Price"
site. The cruises in their Priceline
Pick category don't have this feature, but at prices starting
as low as US$399 for a 7 Night Western Caribbean cruise, it doesn't
seem like too great a loss. When you consider that nearly everything
is included, you'd have a hard time beating that as a travel bargain.
Geek
Cruises - How does a cruise called Linux
Lunacy IV sound to you? Maybe you'd prefer Perl
Whirl '04 or MySQL
Swell? The excursions at this site are not your run of
the mill 'get on board and pickle your brain for a week' feasts.
Seminars on the latest hi tech programming languages, web techniques
and MAC Mania with top experts in the field and dozen of fellow
geeks make the learning as top notch as the cuisine... and you
may even find that your boss is willing to pay for your "International
Technology Conference."
Cruise
Web - An online travel agency, much like the more well
known Expedia and Travelocity with the exception that they specialize
in cruises. The site is easy to use and the prices are guaranteed
to be lower than what the cruise brochures quote. This is a reputable
agency - they provide information for you to verify - and should
be one of the places you check if a cruise is in your future.
Trip
Advisor - This site collects information on travel destinations
for you to check before you go. The don't have a specific section
for cruises, but if you search the site you'll find a list
of 27 international water tours and cruises. Some have comments
by others who've taken the cruise or reviews by the staff. Take
a look at your ports of call here to help plan activities during
your land based time.
Small
Ship Cruises - If you're looking for an out of the ordinary
cruise experience, try this site on for size... small ships. In
contrast to most of the lines that run huge floating cities, these
cruises are on smaller, more intimate ships. The site covers the
world with destinations and offers some good discounts and specials.
