Game Boy Advance, or GBA as it is known to a legion of fans, is the next generation Nintendo portable game player after Game Boy Color, released in 1998.

With a virtual lock on the handheld market, Nintendo easily beats out the competition (mainly Atari and Sega) year after year with its popular horizontal alignment and list of popular games that can be played anywhere.

Along with Pokemon, other popular games include Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, the NHL sports hockey series, and a highly-touted list of fantasy games. New, improved classic games such as Super Mario Bros. and Excitebike have also been re-released to great success.

While Game Boy Advance remains top of the line, recent improvements and upgrades have become available due mainly to customer feedback from its loyal fan base.

These included a new internal on/off front light that make games easier to play, as well as a practical power upgrade featuring a rechargeable lithium battery.

The latest redesign in the GBA line has been dubbed the Game Boy Micro that features cool, customizable faceplates in various colors, as well as being smaller and sleeker than the standard Game Boy Advance design.
