Notable changes in 2012 include a new sponsor and a new name for the Bob Hope Classic - now known as the Humana Challenge.

Also in the year ahead, the spotlight's on the 2012 Honda Classic as U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy brings his game to the PGA National Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, FL in February.

In even bigger news, this year also marks the return of the 2012 Ryder Cup - the biennial battle between US and European golf champs, teaming up to meet at the Medinah Country Club in Illinois in September.

Tickets for most annual PGA tournaments generally go on sale 6 months - or more - before the official start dates, so hopefully the following list will come in handy if you are planning on attending any one of the upcoming major PGA tour matches in 2012.

Otherwise, join millions of other couch potatoes in the US who will be tuning in to ESPN and CBS Sports for TV coverage of most of the major championships, including The 2012 Masters in April and the 2012 Players Championship in May.

NBC has the final rounds of the 2012 US Open covered in June, while TNT and CBS traditionally share coverage of the 2012 PGA Championship in August.
