Skiing in
Nevada?
Truth to tell,
It ain't just desert and casinos.
In fact, northern
Nevada, with its 24,000 acres devoted to winter fun at 15 ski
areas - mainly situated around Lake Tahoe - is one of the West's
premier destinations for world class ski resorts and lodging accommodations.
Less than
an hour's drive from Reno lies state's more famous ski resorts
surrounding Lake Tahoe which shares it's southern border with
neighbor California.
Diamond Peak
at Incline Village is usually considered the state's premiere
"all-around" ski area, ideal for beginners to experts,
including family-friendly and kids' runs, ski and snowboard instruction
(as well as top casinos nearby for glittering nightlife.)
Neaby Mount
Rose boasts the closest location from Reno (a mere 25 minutes
from downtown) and is famous for wild and wooly downhill adventures
through glades and forest runs requring giddy split-second turns,
along with terrains park for daredevil snowboarding action.
Heading south,
also don't forget a 40-mile drive from the Las
Vegas strip to Mount Charleston offering 11 runs, 4 lifts,
and amenities like snow parka rentals for visitors who
haven't come prepared for the higher reaches of "super cool"
Las Vegas.
