Softball
Softball
can be an easy afternoon picnic entertainment or a driven competition
and still be fun to play or watch. In it's simplest form all it
takes is a couple of bats, a softball, enough gloves to go around
and players to take the field.
Many
companies have softball teams that play against other teams for
fun or as fundraisers for local charities. Pub softball is a popular
sport in the USA with the winners celebrating their victory and
the losers drowning their sorrows after the game at the sponsoring
establishment.
Serious
players compete on regional or national teams and when you reach
Olympic levels the only thing soft about the game is the ball
itself...
Amateur
Softball Association of America - The National organization
for the game of softball has good information on how to play,
certified equipment and updates on events as well as a Hall of
Fame and a very good umpire's
section.
PlayNSA.com
- The US National Softball Association has info on the World Series
and other softball events - they also sponsor scholarships for
softball players and a lot more... Search
for events by State in their database.
Softball
Player - This site starts with news and headlines on the
main page, but the bulk of the site offers a unique collection
of information. Each section is a page that offers the softball
community a chance to add a link to their information. The results
are a bit uneven, but some of the team and organization sites
are fantastic. Be sure to check the softball
links they have gathered - and add your own if you run a site.
Baseball
Softball UK
- The Queen may not play softball, but the sport is alive and
well in the British Isles. This site offers news, info on where
to play and more on UK softball. Baseball info is also available
here - including fantasy leagues.
National
Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) - The site of the
USA National Softball Coaching Association - check the section
on drills.
This site also has info on softball camps, college softball and
other useful info. Check the scrolling job line if you're qualified
to work as a softball coach.
International
Senior Softball Association (ISSA) - The name says international,
but this site seems to focus on the USA, but for any "Over
The Hill and Picking Up Speed" softball players out there...
this site is for you!
