Most recently in the news for an impending wedding to fiance and supermodel Brooklyn Decker, the tennis star was born Andrew "Andy" Stephen Roddick in Omaha, Nebraska on August 30, 1982,

As a toddler, Andy later moved with with his family to Austin, Texas, and at age 10 moved again to Boca Raton, Florida.

Born into a sports-minded family, Andy's siblings include brother, John Roddick, later an All-American tennis player at University of Georgia, and brother Lawrence, who became an accomplished spring board diver and member of the U.S. Senior National Team.

It was Andy, however, who went on to enter the world spotlight when he turned professional tennis player in 2000 at age 18. That same year he became the youngest player in the ATP Top 200.

A year later, he was in the Top 20, with one of the fastest serves in the sport. Roddick's career skyrocketed on and off the court, including an appearance on Saturday Night Live, and media coverage by publications ranging from Rolling Stone Magazine to People Magazine, who named him 2002's "Sexiest Sports Star."

In his short professional career, Roddick has won 17 singles titles.

His first grand slam title came in the 2003 US Open when he beat Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets. On August 31, 2004 he hit the fastest serve in US Open history - at 244 km/h (152 mph).

Later hobbled by a foot injury, Roddick withdrew from the 2006 French Open in May, and later at Wimbledon was roundly defeated by 19-year old underdog, Andy Murray.

Now in an attempt at a professional comeback, Roddick hired former tennis great Jimmy Connors as personal coach.

Andy Roddick made it to the men's semi-finals at the 2006 U.S. Open, but was defeated in four sets by defending title champ Roger Federer.

Roddick finally broke his losing streak against Federer in a warm-up to the 2007 Australian Open, but was ultimately defeated in the semi-finals. He faced Federer yet again in the 2007 men's quarterfinals at the U.S. Open but lost to the Swiss champ 7-6, 7-6, 6-2.

Off the court, the handsome tennis star has dated actress Mandy Moore and was also rumored to be romantically linked to tennis star hottie Maria Sharapova before announcing his engagement to Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue model Brooklyn Decker.

Roddick and Decker have been dating since 2007 and announced their wedding plans in April 2008, although an official date has yet to be confirmed.
