Born Dwyane Tyrone Wade, Jr. on born January 17, 1982 in Chicago, the Miami Heat star often misspelled Dwayne (although correctly pronounced as such) is best known for his powerhouse moves that have made him one of the most popular and accomplished players in the NBA.

Now otherwise known as D-Wade or "Flash" (a nickname given him by former Miami Heat player Shaquille O'Neal) he was the fifth pick in the 2003 NBA draft and made the All-Rookie team in his first year.

With each successive year a member of the NBA All Star team, Wade later led the Miami Heat to their first NBA Championship victory over the Dallas Mavericks in 2006.

Plagued by shoulder and knee injuries during the 2007 and 2008 seasons, Wade is now on the mend and following knee surgery. Nevertheless, he traveled with the U.S. Olympic basketball team in August scoring 27 points to lead the "Redeem Team" to gold in Beijing.

Off the Court and Personal Life

Now living in his native Chicago, Wade met his present wife Siohvaughn while still in high school and today have two sons, Zaire (b. 2002) and Zion (b. 2007). Off the court, Wade has a number of lucrative endorsement deals with companies such as Gatorade, Lincoln, Staples, as well as T-Mobile with whom he appeared in a very popular "myfaves" campaign with former basketball great Charles Barkley.

As a popular subject of magazine interviews and features, Wade was named one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in 2005 and the following year was named the NBA's best dressed player by GQ Magazine. In 2007, he also made of the Esquire magazine's Best Dressed Men in the World list for the second year in a row.
