MAIN Recreation Video Games Spike Video Game Awards

It's time once again for the Spike TV Video Game Awards with the official list of nominees announced on November 18.

In 2009, the 7th edition of the Video Game Awards airs live on Spike TV on December 12 at 8PM ET/PT featuring a bevy of stars from the world of video games, Hollywood and pop music.

Along with Game of the Year, the annual "best of" list featured during the annual presentation includes awards for innovative graphics, technology, and the hottest video action & adventure.

This year, games released between December 2, 2008 and November 23, 2009 were eligible to be nominated.

Leading with the most nods this year include Uncharted 2: Among Thieves with eight nominations and Batman: Arkham Asylum with seven.

The Beatles: Rock Band has been named in two categories including Best Music Game, where it will go up against DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, and LEGO Rock Band.

Besides honoring a current crop of video game successes, fans usually get a sneak peak at upcoming titles as producers vie for advertising spots for new releases during the broadcast.
