Gone are the simple buttons that dictate play - the Wii's powerful motion sensor allows players to join in on the action in a new and immediate way. With a flick of the wrist, gamers can virtually speed around a track, engage in swordplay, or dropkick an opponent.

While less hi-tech than its media rich competitors, Wii is considerably cheaper than either the Xbox 360 or PS3 and a year after its release was beginning to outpace its competition in sales and popularity worldwide. Demand is such that now, after three years on the market, it's proving more and more difficult for store owners to keep it from flying off the shelves...
