Night Vision; JAKKS Pacific, Recommended age 8+, MSRP $79.99USD
The EyeClops
Night Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles are really impressive. After
playing with these for a while we completely understood why it
is hot on tween's wish lists.
These actually
use infrared
night vision technology to allow you to see pretty clearly for
up to 50 feet. We were amazed. This takes playing hide and seek
to a whole new level. We have seen nothing else out there like
it.
Now there are a few things I would make note of. First it works
best in complete darkness. Street lights can throw off the visual
and appear way too bright.
Second, it
is infra-red technology so the images will not be as clear as
daylight, they will appear in false color, hues of green or black
& white.
Third, until
you are completely used to wearing them you should exercise caution.
It is not the same as walking around in the daytime; you have
to move your entire head to see areas around you. Because you
are really only looking out of one eye you have a lack of peripheral
vision and loss of depth perception. It does take some getting
used to. It is advised that you walk not run while wearing them.
The instruction booklet includes a recommended safety list; I
highly recommend you give it a read!
The goggles are pretty big but surprisingly comfortable for the
size. The straps are adjustable and it is pretty well padded.
Although we found that they can be a bit snug over some larger
eye glasses. The crew thought that they were so cool and had such
a good time using them that they didn't even feel them on their
heads. We had a couple of instances where the camera lens fogged
up, but we believe that had to do with indoor to outdoor temperature
change.
The EyeClops
Night Vision Goggles have two brightness modes, one better for
near sighted the other far sighted. There is one screen inside,
centered to user's right eye; the left eye piece has a flip open
lens cover witch you can open to see in the light. The night vision
goggles require 5 AA batteries, which last somewhere up to 3 hours.
You will need extra if you're planning on using them for awhile.
