Girl Gourmet
Cupcake Maker; by Jakks Pacific, food products made in the USA,
average retail $29.99 USD, Recommended ages 8+
You just have to love the whole idea of kids being able to independently
make cupcakes from start to finish, never mind in less than a
minute. Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker is a great concept especially
given the popularity of the current cupcake
craze.
The Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker Set comes with everything you need
to make and frost four cupcakes; additional mixes and accessories
are sold separately. They are great for snack, lunchboxes, and
play dates, anytime your kid has a hankering for a cupcake.
One huge factor that will be very important to parents of kids
with food allergies is that the cupcake mixes are peanut, tree
nut, wheat, and gluten free. The crew's favorite part was the
cupcake froster. This gadget may seem unnecessary to an adult
but it was a hit with the kids; and no one cared if the frosting
came out perfectly swirled, they just enjoyed doing it.
Immediate clean up was pretty painless. Again, I say immediate,
but it was a little bit harder to clean the frosting unit after
it sat for awhile. Cleaning up is an important life skill! The
crew had mixed feelings on the flavor of the cupcakes, red velvet,
vanilla, cinnamon sugar, and chocolate; I think there is room
for improvement here. The texture and fluffiness did fluctuate
with time and microwave wattage. So you may need to find the best
time for your microwave, but always start with the recommended
bake time of 30 seconds.
Both boys and girls enjoyed the "Girl" Gourmet Cupcake
Maker. Unfortunately, the boys were not willing to put anything
called the Girl Gourmet on their wish list. Especially in this
day and age where shows like Ace
of Cakes rule; this would appeal to more kids if it were not
label so gender specific.
Nothing is
more important than spending time with your kids, add a fun activity
to the mix and the benefits outweigh any possible messes. Besides
the valuable life skill of learning how to cook, there are many
other reasons to get your young chefs into the kitchen with you.
