Hungry Hippos
Ages 4 and
up
First introduced
in the 90's by Hasbro, this is one game that even my husband does
not have to be coaxed into playing.
It's still
a family favorite, and unlike many of today's hi-tech electronic
gizmos it's quick to assemble and doesn't take any batteries!
What could
be easier?
It's a simple
game: press the black levers on the back of your hippo and try
and eat/grab as many of the white plastic marbles as you can.
The rules
& instructions call for each player to take turns feeding
the hippos but it's always fun to feed them all the marbles and
see which hippo can chow down!
There are
four Hippos in the game - Homer, Harry, Henry and Happy, with
each a different color - yellow, pink, green and orange.
It's a great
game for young siblings. No strategy needed, so even toddlers
can start playing with adult assistance. My daughter plays with
our neighbor's daughter, who just turned 4, and the giggles are
abundant and contagious.
It's such
a popular game that I had to reinforce the box with masking tape.
I recommend putting the marbles in a baggies after opening. Speaking of marbles, this is not a game for very young children where "chokeables" are a concern.
Like any classic
game, this one is still affordable, durable and good basic fun
the whole family can enjoy over and over again.
