Australia's 'wine central', South Australia is responsible for approximately half of all the country's total wine production.
With the diversity of climate - from the cool Adelaid Hills to the warmer McLaren Vale - the region offers a variety of wines from full bodied reds to fruity whites.
The first
vineyards were established in the 1830's, when the Barossa Valley emerged as the main area of production in the 19th century. Since then, additional vineyards have sprung up in Riverland, Coonawarra, Clare Valley, and McLaren Vale.
Noted for its intensely flavored shiraz and reislings, South Australia's reputation will continue to grow in the future with new areas of production at Port Lincoln and Kangaroo Island also showing great promise...
