"Seize the day off!" says the state's official campground association — and what better way to do it than by getting away from it all at any one of thousands of campsites located around Maryland.
Heck, bring the family and take the weekend!
The Maryland Park Service alone offers more than 2,000 campsites, including 120 full-service and camper cabins. Privately-owned campgrounds include countless more locations encompassing everything from primitive tent camping to luxury RV parks.
Best yet, you can choose your favorite outdoor adventure wherever your wanderlust leads you.
It could be under the forest canopy at Potomac-Garrett State Forest in the state's mountainous western region. Or, check out fun-in-the-sun at a beach tent campsite close to sandy beaches on Maryland's incredibly scenic Eastern shore at Janes Island State Park or those found near Ocean City in Assateague State Park.
If Washington DC is your home base, there are also a handful of camping sites welcoming outdoor adventurers, some near enough to the capitol as simply hiking down to the nearest Metro station.
So, what are you waiting for? Get camping ...and have fun!
