Love is in the air when department stores and online shops romance customers with deals and bargains on the items they want most. Make it even more romantic by planning your shopping strategy now to find the best deals for the year's most heartfelt holiday.

Start by keeping an eye on store circulars and TV reports on where the best Valentine's Day bargains can be found this year. In 2012, Valentine's Day falls on a Tuesday, so expect a pre-weekend of sales and special deals leading up to the big day.

In early February also look for travel deals and hotels in major tourist centers to offer special Valentine's Day weekend getaways.
