There was an early Thanksgiving treat in store for pop music fans in 2007 - with not a turkey in the bunch....

This year, the awards were decided by an interactive online poll — where fans got to pick the winner. Voting opened in early October and closed November 2, 2007.

The live telecast aired on ABC Television on Sunday, November 18, 2007 8PM ET/PT from the Los Angeles Nokia Theatre.

In 2007, Linkin Park was on the rock music comeback trail with multiple nods. Other artists getting the lion's share of attention this year were Daughtry, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, and Carrie Underwood.

Live performers on awards night included Alicia Keys, Avril Lavigne, Mary J. Blige, and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls.

Every year, the American Music Awards honors the current crop of pop music megastars - ranging from country-western, R&B and Latin...to rock and roll, rap and soul.

The very first AMA crystal trophy went to singer Roberta Flack in 1973 and since then more than 30 awards have been given out each year.
