Audiences had a chance to find out at this year's BET Hip Hop Awards, which were televised on BET on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 8PM ET (see winners, below.)

Hosting this year's ceremony was comedian Lil Duval.

2019 BET Hip Hop Award nominees had Cardi B leading the pack with 10 nods including ‘MVP of the Year,’ ‘Hot Ticket Performer,’ ‘Hustler of the Year,’ ‘Best Collabo,’ ‘Single of the Year,’ ‘Made-You-Look Award,’ and two nods for the ‘Best Hip-Hop Video,’ & ‘Sweet 16’ categories.

DJ Khaled, Travis Scott, and J.Cole, followed with 8 nominations each and Drake with 7. Other notable nominations include Nipsey Hussle who posthumously received 5 nominations.

This year's recipient of the I Am Hip Hop Award was pioneer female rapper Lil Kim.

Performers at this year's ceremony included Megan Thee Stallion, Rick Ross, DaBaby, Chance The Rapper, T-pain, Rapsody, Ybn Ft. Anderson .Paak, Saweetie, Kamillion & Tom.G. So far, Teyana Taylor and Daniel Kaluuya are on the presenters list on the big night. And, for the first time ever, the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards will feature a live battle rap hosted by DNA, Geechi, Gotti, T-Top & Shotgun Suge

Also new this year, “Best International Flow” honored artists from around the world, with nominees from Nigeria, UK, France, South Africa, Ghana and Canada. Internationally, the awards will air on BET Africa October 9, 2019, at 7:00PM CAT; on BET UK on October 10, 2019, at 9PM BST; on BET France on October 10, 2019 at 8:45PM CEST; and on BET South Korea October 10, 2019 at 9:00PM KST.
