They're also distinguished for being the only fan-voted awards in country music.

This year, the 8th annual awards ceremony took place at Sommet Center in none Nashville, Tennessee, the world's country music capital, airing live on CMT at 8PM ET.

Leading the 2009 CMT Music Award nominations was Sugarland with five nods this year, followed by Taylor Swift and Brad Paisley who each received a total of four nominations.

Live performance included Taylor Swift, T-Pain, Keith Urban and Def Leppard, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, Trace Adkins, Jason Aldean, Dierks Bentley, Toby Keith, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker, and Sugarland.
