The CMT Music Awards honor the best, hottest and most inspiring country music videos of the past year. They're also distinguished for being the only fan-voted awards in country music, with voting open online at cmt.com.

New this year, the 2022 CMT Music Awards ceremony moved to CBS and aired live from Nashville's Municipal Auditorium on Monday, April 11, 2022 beginning at 8PM ET.

2022 CMT nominees (also see WINNERS, below) were announced in March, with Kane Brown leading the pack with four nominations, followed by Kelsea Ballerini, Mickey Guyton and first-time nominees Breland and Cody Johnson with three nods each.

Hosting on the big night was CMT nominee Kelsea Ballerini (who, recently diagnosed with COVID, co-hosted from home!) together with co-host actor Anthony Mackie.

A stellar performance lineup included Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Mickey Guyton and Black Pumas, Old Dominion, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Luke Combs, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, and Cole Swindell.

More performances during the evening included Jason Aldean, Jimmie Allen, Bryan Adams, Monica, Walker Hayes, Thomas Rhett, Riley Gree. A special perfornmance by The Judds - the mother-and-daughter duo of Naomi and Wynonna Judd - reunited the duo to perform their classic hit “Love Will Build a Bridge”.

Closing out the 2022 CMT Awards was Kenny Chesney with his classic hit, "Beers in Mexico".

On-hand to present this year were Kacey Musgraves, Jimmie Allen, Taylor Lautner, Gabby Barrett, and Dennis Quaid, as well as Gayle King, Rob Corddry, Jordan Davis, Billy Gibbons, Joel McHale, Martina McBride, Dylan Scott, LeAnn Rimes, and Queer Eye's Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France, and Antoni Porowski.

Faith Hill, in her first CMT Awards appearance in 12 years, also presented the coveted Video of the Year Award.

• Often called "the Carrie Underwood lovefest", the CMT Music Awards has honored Carrie Underwood the most, with a total of 17 wins including seven for Video of the Year.

• For Male Video of the Year, Kenny Chesney leads with five wins while Miranda Lambert also has five wins for Female Video of the Year.

• Taylor Swift received her first ever award of her career when she won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2007 CMT Music Awards.

• The CMT Music Awards used to be called the CMT Flameworthy Music Awards due to audience lighter waving during performances at country music concerts.
