- The
first Orange Bowl was played between Manhattan College
and the University of Miami in 1935. To save money, Manhattan
College cruised from New York to Miami by boat, which
took three days (Miami won, 7-0.)
- The
first Orange Bowl ever televised was broadcast before
a national audience in January, 1953 when Alabama trounced
Syracuse 61-6.
- Ahman
Green, who went on to play for the Green Bay Packers,
set an Orange Bowl record in 1998 by running for 206 yards.
