Nevada is gambling that homegrown wines can be successfully produced in the deserts out West.
In fact, the
University of Nevadas College of Agriculture, Biotechnology and Natural
Resources has been testing different wine grapes suited to Nevada to find the best varieties suited
to the warm days and cool nights of the desert.
Some have adapted better than others, but promising results
have so far been seen with Cabernet Franc, White Riesling, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay
and others.
