This year, watch for Independence Day to fall on Monday, July 4, 2022 making for for a long, leisurely 3-day weekend.

After all, it was patriot John Adams himself who declared in 1776 that the 4th of July should always " be commemorated .... with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other....".

And so it has continued -- from sea to shining sea -- for more than 240 years.
