And, if you think huge savings can only be had during the Christmas holiday season, you're in for a treat. This year, Easter falls early -- on Sunday, March 31, 2023, so plan at least a few weeks ahead of time. Look for sales circulars and advertisements heralding the start of the Easter sales season at Macy's, Walmart, and Target, as well as in the larger shopping outlets to get a jumpstart on spring savings.
Target traditionally closes on the holiday, along with Costco and Sam's Club. But look to Walmart, CVS, Rite-Aid, Walgreens, and other big retailers to stay open on Easter Sunday along with many national supermarket chains for last-minute Easter bargains.
First, you'll want to prepare by going comparison shopping online, then go on the hunt for related discount codes and coupons. When the retailers' Easter sales ads appear, look for great deals on everything from women's dresses to infant and baby clothes and kids clothes. Don't overlook other great bargains to be had on shoes at big shoe retailers, as well as men's clothes including suits, jackets, shirts and ties. Also watch for sales from major online florists like Hallmark and 1-800 Flowers for tempting deals on Easter flower arrangements. Online is the place to be for Easter bouquets, say the experts, since many local florists are apt to raise their prices just before Easter to take advantage of the high demand.\
Aside from Easter sales, take a look around at area car dealers who are looking to clear out their used cars for the warmer weather buying season ahead. Also set your radar on great deals on auto parts this time of year. As the clock clicks down to high school graduation season, Best Buy and other electronics stores will also be gearing up with sales to attract parents who are in the market for new laptops and computer storage gadgets. Likewise, the housewares section of your favorite department store will be offering sales on cookware and dorm room essentials for the freshman college crowd. (TIP: If you can wait it out another month, Memorial Day sales are even better with up to 50% off on housewares.) Did we mention the last of the winter sales? As spring warms up watch for the lowest prices of the year on hats, scarves, winter coats, jackets and boots. Finally, don't forget the candy aisle at the dollar store -- where jelly beans, Peeps, holiday-themed Kisses, and colorful Easter baskets are waiting to be had at great savings during Easter Week. Come Monday, plan ahead and snatch up what's left of the Easter novelties and decorations at even greater savings for next year!
Although it's regularly advised to leave the kids home during the Christmas holidays, Easter makes it necessary to bring the children along to properly outfit them for their annual Easter outfits. If possible, bring along another adult to help you keep focused, and be sure to discuss with kids their choices in colors and styles beforehand. Like any
big sales day, it's always best to make a list so you know
exactly what you're getting before you arrive at the mall or
department store. If you're
not readily familiar with a store layout, scout it out beforehand so you know where everything is on the big day (without
having to wait in line to ask for help.) Also remember to bring snacks along for the little ones to help ease their way to the checkout!
