25 miles southwest of Wichita, for example, Lake Afton Park features a 258-acre man-made lake with swimming, fishing, and action-packed sporting areas for water skiing and boating.

In Kansas City's backyard, check out Shawnee Mission Park - offering a swimming beach and bathhouse concessions, sailboarding, fishing, boating, horseback riding, and more.

Located in Olathe, Kill Creek Park is another cool spot offering a swimming beach, marina, and 12 miles of hiking trails.

The best beach in the state? Although many Kansans may have their personal favorite, the beach at Scott State Park in Scott City is frequently at the top of the list.
