• Although the winner at Phoenix Raceway gets laurels for the victory, the winner may or may not win the Cup -- as the NASCAR Championship goes to the driver who has accumulated enough standing throughout the year (decided by way of an an intricate NASCAR point system) to ultimately win the top prize.
• The record holder for most wins at the final is Kevin Harvick with four victories (2006, 2012, 2013, 2014) followed by Jimmie Johnson (2007, 2008, 2009) and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (2003, 2004, 2015) with three wins each.
• Automakers Chevrolet and Ford claim the most wins at the final with 13 apiece, followed by Toyota with four and Pontiac with two.
• NBC is the traditonal TV home of the final race. ABC/ESPN was named official broadcaster in 2007, but airing rights once again returned to NBC in 2015.
