MAIN Harry Potter Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince Movie

The cameras have stopped rolling and it's a wrap for the next installment in the Harry Potter saga, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the movie that tells of Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts.

The first pictures from the set were online a year ago (see below) as the now familiar faces of Harry and his friends worked on the newest film in the series. It premiered on July 15, 2009 - bumped from its original November 21, 2008 release to take advantage of the busy summer movie season.

HBP Movie Casting

Ralph Fiennes's nine-year-old nephew, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, plays the role of young Tom Riddle at age 11, while 16-year-old Frank Dillane plays the teenage Riddle. Jessie Cave takes on the role of Lavender Brown, who has eyes for Ron Weasley in a plot that has teenage hormones running amok at Hogwarts this year.

Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Neville (Matthew Lewis) were, of course, all confirmed early on for the sixth film.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), everyone's favorite bad boy, had reported a contract "not set in stone" although he appeared in the sixth and quite possibly the seventh & eight film.

Michael Gambon (Professor Albus Dumbledore), Maggie Smith (Professor Minerva McGonagall), Afshan Azad (Padma Patil), Shefali Chowdhury (Parvati Patil), Clémence Poésy (Fleur Delacour), Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley), and David Thewlis (Professor Remus Lupin) all returned for the filming of the Half Blood Prince, as well.

HPB Movie Plot

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is based on the sixth book in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. After the previous five movies scored well with both fans and critics the sixth - and next to last episode - has a lot to live up to.

The movie focuses on Harry and his friends' sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, beginning with the knowledge that Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters is on the march. Hogwarts is safe for the time being, but the power of the dark forces can be felt even there.

There will be more deadly battles ahead. The students and teachers of Hogwarts know that it is up to them to keep the Dark Lord from winning, but can everyone be trusted?

Then there is the mysterious book of spells and potions that Harry is given. The book is full of notes by the Half Blood Prince, but who is this mysterious former student? Will the spells from the book help Harry to discover a way to destroy Voldemort and his army? Is Snape a friend or a foe? Will Hogwarts be safe against the evil army or brought down by eveil from within?

Everyone knows that this year began with grim foreshadowing... but nothing can prepare them for the death they will have to face in the end...
