Rumors - Not Facts
Extra - Access Hollywood's behind the scenes special and other media spots reported that Emma Watson might not be returning as Hermoine for the last two movies in the Harry Potter series. Daniel Radcliffe says he'll be playing Harry in all of the movies and Warner Bros. has confirmed that all three stars have signed to complete both the sixth and seventh movies.
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is based on the fifth book in the Harry Potter series by JK Rowling, the movie is expected to bring as much excitement to the screen as the previous four episodes.
The movie focuses on Harry and his friends' fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Directed by
British filmmaker David Yates (The Girl in the Café,
Sex Traffic, State of Play) from an adaptation of the book
by playwright Michael Goldenberg, the now familiar faces of Daniel
Radcliffe as Harry Potter, Rupert Grint playing Ron Weasley,
and Emma
Watson as the lovely and brilliant wizard Hermione Granger
were joined by many of their old friends as well as some new ones
in Order of the Phoenix.
The lovely newcomer Evanna Lynch captured the role of Luna Lovegood. "Loony" is the Ravenclaw student who turns out to be a strange but important ally for Harry in the movie. The 14-year-old from Termonfeckin, Co Louth in Ireland beat over 15,000 hopefuls to win the role in an open audition in the UK.
Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake) plays Dolores Umbridge, the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Planted by the Ministry of magic to stop rumors of Voldemort's return, she becomes Harry's enemy. She punishes Harry for insisting that the Dark Lord has returned, makes the real defense against the dark arts class a waste of time and forbids Hogwarts' students from taking part in any non-Ministry-approved groups or clubs. Despite all of her efforts, Harry manages to form "Dumbeldore's Army", as a secret defense against the dark arts class to prepare to fight against Voldemort and the Death Eaters.
Helena
Bonham Carter (A Room with a View, Tim Burton's Corpse
Bride & Sweeney Todd) takes on the role of the follower
of Lord Voldemort, Bellatrix Lestrange. She is the Death Eater
who is Sirius Black's cousin.
Natalia Tena (About a Boy) will be seen in The Order of the Phoenix as the shape shifting Nymphadora Tonks, the auror with the wild hair colors. George Harris (Black Hawk Down) portrays Kingsley Shacklebolt the Order of the Phoenix member who helps Dumbledore, the Weasleys, Sirius Black, Tonks and others foil Voldemort and the Death Eaters' plans.
Kathryn Hunter (All or Nothing) has been cast as Harry's next door neighbor, Mrs. Figg. She is a Squib who plays an important role early in the movie when Harry is attacked by Dementors.
In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry and his friends are not little kids. In the fifth year at Hogwarts there is more romance as the bewitching Cho Chang (Katie Leung) and Harry become better friends. Luna Lovegood and Hermione are still in the 'just good friends' category for Harry, but who knows where it all will lead...
At the end of the fourth movie, the Dark Lord has come back to life, but most of the wizarding community is not willing to accept that Voldemort has returned. The Hogwarts Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, and most of the people who know and trust Harry believe the story, but the world of wizards has its own politics.
The Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, believes that Dumbledore, is lying about Voldemorts return. He fears that the Headmaster is spreading the rumor in order to replace Fudge as the Minister of Magic. To prevent that, the ministry undertakes a media smear campaign against Harry and the headmaster. Fudge appoints a new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher to keep Dumbledore and the Hogwarts students from causing trouble.
The new DADA teacher, Dolores Umbridge, sets out to stifle all rumors about the Dark Lord's return and punish the offenders. Her Ministry-approved course of defensive magic avoids preparing the students to defend themselves against the dark forces that are gathering.
Harry takes matters into his own hands and begins to meet secretly with a small group of students who name themselves Dumbledores Army. This real DADA class prepares the students to join with the Order of the Phoenix and battle the Death Eaters. Nothing can prepare them for the price it will cost to win the battle...
