Meanwhile, keep it here for updates and this year's official announcement of FREE pancakes from IHOP!
goal of raising millions of dollars in its annual free pancake giveaway,
IHOP hopes their free offer will prompt customers to give generously to the Children's
Miracle Network and other local charities.
All about National Pancake Day
Now in its 16th year, IHOP began holding the fundraiser in observance
of Fat Tuesday in 2006.
Throughout history, the Tuesday before
Ash Wednesday marked the beginning
of fasting before Easter, when milk and egg products were
forbidden. To use up all the ingredients, household cooks traditionally made heaping stacks
of pancakes, andd IHOP continues that tradition today -- with an additional focus on charitable giving during the Lenten season.
So watch for events and activities surrounding the celebration, with opportunities to support Children’s Miracle Network and other national charities throughout the month.
Traditionally, more than four million free flapjacks are served on National Pancake Day and more than $3 million raised for charity. In 2023 visitors are expected to top that record at IHOP's nationwide to help the cause of supporting those less fortunate than themselves.
So sit right down and help yourself to a stack of buttermilk pancakes that not only taste good, but FEEL good as you help make a huge diffference in the lives of the less fortunate.
