Where: Simulcast on E! and NBC live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, CA

Unlike the Oscars or the SAG Awards - in which nominees and winners are selected by industry peers - the People's Choice Awards are determined solely by the American viewing public.

This year, the 2022 People's Choice Awards will be simulcast on both E! and NBC on Tuesday, December 6, beginning at 9PM ET live from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica.

Hosting this year's show for the second year running will be SNL funnyman Kenan Thompson.

With nominations already announced, Bad Bunny and Harry Styles lead the 2022 People's Choice nominees list with Bad Bunny racking up seven nods followed by Styles with six.

Luke Combs, Selena Gomez, Lizzo and Charlie Puth each received four nominations.

2022 People's Choice Award favorites include some of the year's most popular movies including those contending for top honors as The Movie of 2022 : “Bullet Train”, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, “Elvis”, “Jurassic World Dominion”, “Nope”, “The Batman”, “Thor: Love and Thunder” and “Top Gun: Maverick".

In the music categories, top nominees for The Album of 2022 include “Dawn FM” (The Weeknd), “Growin' Up” (Luke Combs), “Harry's House” (Harry Styles), “Midnights" (Taylor Swift), “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” (Kendrick Lamar) and “Renaissance” "Beyoncé".

Winners already announced awards at the 2022 People's Choice Awards include Lizzo who will be awarded the People's Hero Award, while actor and funnyman Ryan Reynolds is set to receive The People’s Icon award.

People's Choice Awards trivia & fun facts

• The first People's Choice Awards was televised in 1975. That year, "The Sting" won as Favorite Picture, Barbra Streisand won Favorite Film Actress, and John Wayne was honored with Favorite Film Actor.

• The third People's Choice Awards in 1977 holds the record for best rated, when 35.3 million viewers tuned in to see Farrah Fawcett win the award for Favorite Female TV Star, and "Star Wars" took the prize for Favorite Picture.

• Popular TV host Ellen DeGeneres gets the honor for most wins at the People's Choice Awards with a career total of 20.

• With five MC stints, Queen Latifah holds the record for most consecutive appearances as host of the People's Choice Awards -- in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
