Ingredients |
1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1 1/4 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder |
Instructions: |
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F)
2. In a large bowl mix the soft butter with peanut butter and sugars until they are a creamy blend.
3. Beat the vanilla and egg into the batter until you once agian have a creamy, loose batter.
4. In a separate bowl mix the flour, salt and baking powder.
5. Stir the dry ingredients into the batter until they are one smooth batter with a thicker consistency.
6. Shape into 3/4-inch balls.
7. Here's the real secret to yummy peanut butter cookies. With a fork, flatten each ball so that the fork marks stay on the cookie! Dip the fork in flour if it starts to stick to the cookies.
7. Bake on greased cookie sheets for 10 to 12 minutes - or until they are golden brown. |
Helpful Hints: |
When you bake cookies, experiment with where you place the oven rack. Too low and you'll have burnt bottoms with uncooked tops. Too high and you'll have burnt tops.
Always start with a cookie or two as a trial to see how long they'll take to be done just right.
