As temperatures drop in Colorado, the excitement gets hot -- as the Winter X Games celebrates another year of ski, snowboard & snowmobile tricks performed by the world's top winter athletes.

No official date or location has been announced for this year's games at Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen. The contract with MSP Sports, which recently purchased the franchise from ESPN, has has run the clock at Aspen and, so far, no firm commitment has been made by MSP to stay.

Rumor has it that the games will either continue at its traditional venue, or like the Olympics, go global to a new international site each year starting in 2025.

Beginning last year, tickets to most events were free, but with special tickets ticket prices for premium viewing Live music concerts that usually accompanied the games were also eliminated in order to place attention solely on the competition.

All about the Winter X Games

One of the most x-treme winter sports events in the world, the winter games in Colorado attract an international array gravity-defying athletes every year. And, for visitors, all events are FREE, although ticket packages are available for special VIP seating indoors to watch all the action.

In all, more than 200 top athletes will be competing for prize money, medals and worldwide fame for in extreme skiing, snowboarding and other feats of daring. The games not only wow the crowds live events, but entertain a TV audience of millions.
